Student hit by car at Midlothian High School

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A student was hit by a car outside of Midlothian High School Thursday morning.

According to a Chesterfield Police spokesperson, the 15-year-old Midlothian High School student was struck around 7 a.m. The 16-year-old female driver was heading Clover Hill High School, according to her father.

Her father told 8News that the student struck was not in a crosswalk and darted out into the street. He also said that his daughter didn’t see the boy, who was apparently running away from the high school when he was hit. Police’s preliminary investigation confirms that the student entered the path of the car.

The teen was transported to Chippenham Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The driver was not injured.

Midlothian High School’s principal Shawn Abel sent an email to parents regarding to the incident. He says the school is providing student support services to students who witnessed or are impacted by the incident.

Chesterfield Police said the investigation is ongoing.
