COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. (WRIC) — Repairs are happening at an apartment complex in Colonial Heights after an 8News investigation exposed major maintenance issues getting little attention from management.
The Colonial Heights building inspector confirmed to 8News that inspectors have visited the Newcastle Apartments and they found some issues.
The building inspector told 8News they found electrical problems, holes in the sheetrock and mold.
8News was also told the owners of the complex will have to determine where that mold is coming from and fix everything in a timely yet reasonable manner.
Last week, half a dozen tenants shared with 8News complaints of mold, leaks and ovens that don’t heat. Tenants told us the problems had existed for months.
Those same tenants told 8News that maintenance workers with the apartment complex have come by this week and started some repairs.
8News reached out to the management company, KRS Holdings, for an update and timeline for the repair work but we have yet to hear back.
Last week, KRS Holdings told 8News this in a statement:
“KRS Holdings is committed to offering the very best possible rental residences it can to its tenants and consistently strives to address maintenance requests in as timely a manner as possible. In regards to this situation, KRS Holdings, Inc. is investigating and will take the appropriate action at the earliest possible opportunity.”
