SUSSEX COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The Sheriff’s Department in Sussex County has identified Matthew Alan Colburn, also known as “Wish,” as the 3rd suspect wanted in connection with a home invasion from last week.
Police identified the two other suspects as Michael Gregory Powell and Randi James Hois. Hois was located late Friday night in Hopewell and taken into custody by authorities.
Police are now offering at $1,000 dollar reward to anyone who can offer information leading to the arrest of the two other suspects.
Authorities say that they now believe Powell, Hios, and Colburn were the three men who invaded and robbed the Sussex homes, including the one from which a nine-year-old girl called 911 for help while hiding under the bed with her brother.
Colburn is believed to have been the driver of the getaway car.
Police say they are also investigating a fourth unidentified person who they believe may have aided and abetted the suspects.
While responding to the first home invasion, police say they received the disturbing 911 call from the child who said three men were inside her home near Baxter Road. The young girl told police she and her 12-year-old brother hid under the bed after the men knocked on the front door. After no one answered, the children heard the men bust through a rear door and begin rummaging through their house.
When police responded, they helped the children out of the bedroom window in case the suspects were still inside the home.
Police spotted the men fleeing in a vehicle and gave chase before the three men exited the car and fled on foot.
One of the men was wearing a creme colored shirt with light pants and flip flops. Police say they recovered the flip flops after the suspect lost them while running. Another suspect was wearing a reddish t-shirt with black shorts. The third suspect was wearing a black shirt and black shorts and had tattoos all over his body, including his neck.
Authorities from Sussex County, Prince George County, Virginia State Police and the U.S. Marshal’s office all assisted with the search.
Police tell 8News the suspects may have fled to a neighboring jurisdiction.
