RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — UPS on Tuesday announced plans to lay off 160 employees at its UPS Freight unit on Semmes Avenue in Richmond.
“UPS is streamlining support positions at its Richmond, VA Freight unit to address needed cost reductions and operating improvements,”company spokesman Glenn Zaccara said in a statement. “UPS Freight headquarters will continue in Richmond, however some employees will be impacted as a result of a realignment of duties into other UPS locations.
“All employees were notified today; 80 roles will be transitioned from the business this quarter, with another 80 over the next twelve months.”
Zaccara added that there are 45 open roles in the same facility for different positions, and employees are being offered an opportunity to apply for those roles.
The company said that its UPS Freight headquarters will continue to operate in Richmond.
