UVA forward Mamadi Diakite declares for NBA draft

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Just a few days after Virginia basketball players Kyle Guy, De’Andre Hunter and Ty Jerome declared for the NBA Draft, Virginia forward Mamadi Diakite has announced on Instagram that he will follow suit and declare.

Diakite was a key contributor in the Hoos’ run to their first men’s basketball national championship.
The 6-foot-9 forward, from Guinea, Africa, made a last-second shot in regulation during Virginia’s Elite Eight game against Purdue. His shot would send UVA to overtime, where the team would go on to defeat the Boilermakers en route to a national championship victory.
