VCU to offer shuttle service to polling places for students on Election Day

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Every election year you hear over and over again how important it is to get out and vote. It’s a sentiment that’s not lost on college campuses.

“It may not be the most exciting election, but i still feel a duty to vote,” VCU senior Tyler Williams told 8News.

To help students make their voices heard, Virginia Commonwealth University will offer a shuttle service from 9am to 5pm on Election Day.

Students will be picked up at Cabell Library for stops at George Washington Carver School, Dominion Place, and the Main Library, with shuttle service running every half hour.

“I think it’d be cool because most people on campus don’t have a car and it’s very hard for them to get somewhere,” VCU freshman T’asia Mosley said.

VCU junior Paige Matthews added, “so helpful, because I’m also new to the area. I’m a transfer student so, I don’t really know the lay of the land quite yet.”

The University of Richmond will also provide a shuttle service for students on Election Day.

Virginia Union University will not have transportation to polling sites, leaving many students to rely on absentee voting.
