FLORENCE, S.C. (WRIC/ABC) — A 24-year old woman from South Carolina is facing several charges after leading a wild police chase that ended with her vehicle flipping over multiple times and her being ejected from the vehicle.
Brittany Jeffords was pulled over on July 12 for a traffic violation, but sped off after initially cooperating with officers — she even allowed a man to step out and be detained by police — and led a police chase.
Brittany Jeffords’ sister, Jamie, spoke with ABC affiliate WPDE.
“She didn’t want to go back to jail,” she said. “She had a warrant out for her arrest for armed robbery.”
Jeffords drove her SUV through a trailer park, hitting one trailer and almost hitting residents, and abandoned lots for over 15 minutes.
She returned to the highway when police performed a pit maneuver, which forced Jeffords’ SUV to move sideways and roll over three times before stopping on the shoulder.
Jeffords was ejected from the vehicle as a result.
The video shows Jeffords lying on the road as the SUV sits in the grass yards away.
She suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Jeffords has been charged with two counts of failure to appear in court, one count of driving with a suspended license and one count of failure to stop for police.
She was taken into custody after receiving treatment for her injuries. Nobody else was hurt in
