NORFOLK, Va. (WRIC) — A man was found with a loaded handgun at a Norfolk International Airport checkpoint on Monday, marking the 22 firearm that TSA officers have caught at the airport this calendar year.
That’s more than double the number of firearms (10) that were confiscated during 2017.
The Norfolk man was carrying a .32 caliber handgun in a carry-on bag, officials said. The gun was loaded with six bullets.
Airport police were contacted, responded to the checkpoint, confiscated the weapon and detained the man for questioning before citing him on weapons charges.
