Airlines cancel flights along East Coast, issue travel waivers ahead of Florence

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The potential impact of Hurricane Florence is affecting flights along the East Coast. Airlines have already begun announcing flight cancellations and delays at more than a dozen airports. 

Richmond International Airport said in a tweet Wednesday morning that three flights to and from Atlanta have been canceled for Thursday. 

 

 

Southwest Airlines canceled all flights to and from Norfolk International Airport for Thursday and Friday. Allegiant Air also canceled arriving and departing flights for Friday. Allegiant is expected to resume service on Monday. 

Southwest: The airline said that flights at the following cities may be delayed, diverted and/or canceled until Monday.

  • Charleston (CHS)
  • Charlotte (CLT)
  • Greenville-Spartanburg (GSP)
  • Norfolk/Virginia Beach (ORF)
  • Raleigh/Durham (RDU)
  • Richmond (RIC)
  • Washington Dulles International (IAD)
  • Washington DC (Reagan National - DCA)

Jetblue: The airline said they will waive change/cancel fees and fare differences for customers traveling through Sunday to/from the following cities:

Baltimore, MD (BWI)
Charleston, SC (CHS)
Charlotte, NC (CLT)
Raleigh/Durham, NC (RDU)
Richmond, VA (RIC)
Savannah, GA (SAV)
Washington, DC (DCA)
Washington, DC (IAD)

Allegiant: The airline said that service may be disrupted to and from the following locations through Sunday. 

  •  Asheville, NC (AVL)
  • Charleston, SC (CHS) 
  • Concord, NC (USA)
  • Greensboro, NC (GSO)
  • Greenville, SC (GSP)
  • Myrtle Beach, SC (MYR) 
  • Norfolk, VA (ORF)
  • Richmond, VA (RIC)
  • Roanoke, VA (ROA)
  • Savannah, GA (SAV)

United: The airline said they are issuing travel waivers at the following locations through Sunday: 

  • Greenville/Spartanburg, SC (GSP)
  • Columbia, SC (CAE)
  • Myrtle Beach, SC (MYR)
  • Charleston, SC (CHS)
  • Wilmington, NC (ILM)
  • Fayetteville, NC (FAY)
  • Raleigh/Durham, NC (RDU)
  • Charlotte, NC (CLT)
  • Greensboro, NC (GSO)
  • Asheville, NC (AVL)
  • Roanoke, VA (ROA)
  • Norfolk, VA (ORF)
