JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — Authorities are looking for two James City County children who have been missing since 2014 — and may be in be Egypt or Turkey.

The FBI says Amina Kandil and Belel Kandil were last seen Aug. 30, 2014 with their father, Ahmed Abdalla Taha Kandil, leaving the country on a flight out of John F. Kennedy International Airport.

Amina was 10 and Belel was 8 at the time.

According to the FBI, the flight was headed for Boryspil, Ukraine and then Ataturk, Turkey.

Kandil, 46, is a naturalized  United States citizen with dual Egyptian citizenship. The FBI says Amina and Belel may currently be living in the Alexandria, Cairo, or Giza areas of Egypt — or the Hatay region of Turkey.

A spokesperson for the FBI told WAVY they have been working with the children’s mother on this case for “some time.” The bureau’s main objective is to find the children.

Anyone with information on their location can contact the FBI Norfolk Field Office at 757-455-0100.
