JOINT BASE LANGLEY-EUSTIS, Va. (WAVY) — First Lady Melania Trump on Wednesday spoke to and met with service members at Joint Base Langley-Eustis (JBLE).

Mrs. Trump addressed airmen and soldiers who responded to natural disasters, and had recently returned home from deployment.

“I’m honored to be able to say, ‘welcome home.’ And thank you for answering the call of duty.” Mrs. Trump said. Following her speech, Mrs. Trump went around and shook the hands of service members gathered at the base. 

She also interacted with a group of local school children.

According to White House officials, Mrs. Trump was slated to meet with Deputy Secretary of Defense Patrick M. Shanahan.  During her visit, the 1st Fighter Wing is expected to give Mrs. Trump a tour of the F-22 Raptor.
