NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — After years of construction and hype, Norfolk’s first Ikea store will open in exactly one week.

The Swedish home furnishings company has built a 331,000-square-foot store in the northwestern corner of Interstate 64 and Northampton Boulevard. It sits just down the street from Norfolk Premium Outlets, which opened in June 2017.

Ikea’s Norfolk store will feature the largest solar rooftop array in Hampton Roads, charging stations for electric vehicles and a 354-seat restaurant.

People can begin lining up for the store’s grand opening at 5 a.m. on April 10.
