HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Virginia State Police say a road rage incident Wednesday night led to one driver shooting at another on Interstate 64 in Hampton.

State police says the driver of a 2014 Audi  reported just before 10 p.m. that his vehicle was hit by something while he was driving on I-64, near the Mallory Street exit.

An investigation found the Audi was hit by a bullet, but the driver was not injured.

State police is now looking for information on a suspect vehicle, described as a large white pickup truck.

According to state police, the truck’s driver had tried to merge into traffic at workzone lane closure near the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel. The driver hit several cones when they were not able to initially get ahead of the Audi.

The pickup truck was eventually able to cut in front of the Audi.

State police say the driver of the truck started driving aggressively toward the Audi, before firing a shot as the two vehicles reached Mallory Street.

State police is looking for witnesses who may have been driving on I-64 near the HRBT at the time of the incident. If you know anything, contact Virginia State Police at 757-424-6800 or  questions@vsp.virginia.gov.
