Virginia fans celebrate Final Four victory against Auburn

Virginia News

University of Virginia fans were all cheers after their big Final Four win against the Auburn Tigers.

Students and fans flooded streets in Charlottesville chanting and celebrating the mind-blowing match-up.

8News went to Paramount Theatre, where hundreds of fans gathered for a watch party.

“It’s a great atmosphere to watch it here,” Brian Smith, a university employee said.

Smith said he was on edge when they realized UVa blew a decent lead.

“I thought we were going to lose it for a while but they hung on, they kept it cool and they pulled the game out,” Smith said.

The game was a historic moment for people like Kendall Duffie, who grew up watching the Cavaliers play all her life.

“It’s so amazing to be here to watch us in the Final Four,” she said.

Duffie recalls watching the big game back in 1984, the last time the Cavaliers made a Final Four appearance.

Fans are living in the moment and see the Cavaliers taking the national championship

“I might have to cancel class on Tuesday because no one’s going to be there,” Smith said.

UVa plays against Texas Tech in the National Championship game on Monday.
