VSP identify suspect who fled scene after failing to stop

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A suspect is in custody after leading the Virginia State Police on a chase after failing to stop for a traffic violation.

Police have arrested and charged 25 years-old Tyquane M. Lynch of Richmond, with defective equipment, drive while suspended, felony eluding police, brandishing a firearm, hit and run and obstruction of justice.

Virginia State Police say that the situation began in the area of Columbia and Harwood streets in Richmond after a vehicle failed to stop for troopers for a traffic violation around 1:47 p.m. Monday. When the trooper initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, the driver refused to stop and fled a short distance before running off the road and striking a building.

The driver then exited the vehicle, pointed a gun at the Trooper and fled on foot. There was no exchange of gunfire and no one is injured.
