(AP) — Almost three weeks after its birth at the Dallas Zoo, a baby hippo and its mother made their public debut together for the first time on Saturday.
The pair took their time exploring the hippo outpost at the zoo on Friday morning, with baby following its mother into pool, where they remained for most of the morning.
The baby hippo was born to mother Boipelo on May 14.
Since then, the zoo reports the baby’s remained close by Boipelo’s side, so staff has not been able to determine the hippo calf’s gender.
