RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The American Meteor Society received hundreds of reports of a bright fireball, possibly a meteor, streaking across the sky along the East Coast Tuesday night.
The preliminary trajectory indicates the meteor was traveling from North to South before ending its flight in the Atlantic Ocean, in front of the Delaware Bay off the coast of Dover.

Twitter user @stevechazin was driving in Washington D.C. Tuesday night and captured dashcam footage of the bright fireball darting across the sky.
The AMS said it received reports of sightings in Washington D.C., Delaware, Massachusetts, Maryland, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia, Vermont and West Virginia.
