RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) —  Governor Ralph Northam issued his statement on the death of President Bush early Saturday morning and simultaneously ordered the lowering of the United States flag.

“President George H.W. Bush led a remarkable life, marked by his devotion to his beloved wife Barbara, commitment to public service, and unwavering decency to others. May we all take a page from his book. Pam and I extend our thoughts to the Bush family during this time of loss.”

Following suit from President Trumps orders, Governor Northam has also requested that the flags of the United States of America and the Commonwealth of Virginia to be flown at half-staff. The order will be in place for the next 30 days following the passing of George H. W. Bush.
