RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — When Tiger Woods made his putt on 18 to win The Masters, the golf community roared with excitement.
“I just thought it was amazing,” said golfer Journey Johnson. “Historic day. Tremendous. There’s a lot of folks out there cheering for his comeback.”
At Independence Golf Club in Midlothian, things were relatively quiet during the final round but quickly changed once Tiger won.
“All of a sudden there were people showing up in red shirts and kids doing fist pumps as they’re practicing on the putting green,” said Independence Golf Club President Giff Breed. “That’s what the sport really needs and to have him back is really amazing.”
With his win on Sunday, Woods captured his 15th career major championship and 5th green jacket.
