Richmond men’s and women’s lacrosse prepare for NCAA Tournament

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The Richmond Spiders men’s and women’s lacrosse teams are getting ready for the NCAA Tournament with one goal in mind, to win.

After winning conference championships for the second consecutive year the Spiders are hoping to continue their seasons beyond this weekend.

The women will play first on Friday when they take on Loyola (MD) in a game being played at Princeton.

“It’s no longer just happy to be here,” said senior Marissa Brown. “We want to put Richmond on the national scale and we want to make a run in the NCAA Tournament and I think that we have all the talent to do that.”

On the men’s side they’ll play No. 2 seed Duke on Sunday in Durham, NC. Both teams played earlier this season in Richmond with Duke winning 11-7.

“Hopefully when we show up on Sunday down in Durham…there will be no nerves,” said head coach Dan Chemotti.

“We’re excited,” said senior Teddy Hatfield. “We certainly think we can play better than we did that (last) game. But just like any other week we’re going to go in, work hard, work on the little things.”
