UVA defeats VCU 3-2 in the Duel at The Diamond


RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Thanks to RBI singles in the 2nd, 3rd and 6th innings Virginia held off a VCU rally to win 3-2 at The Diamond.

UVA scored first on a single from Jack Weiller. Brendan Rivoli and Nate Eikhoff also added to the scoring by driving in runs.

VCU trailed 3-0 in the 9th when Liam Hibbets hit a 2-run home run, cutting the lead to 3-2.

Kyle Witten closed things out for Virginia to earn his save No. 9 on the season in the 3-2 victory.

This was the final home game for VCU on the season.

Both teams meet again in Charlottesville on Tuesday, May 14.
