HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — All eastbound lanes of I-64 in Henrico County were closed for several hours Tuesday due to a multi-vehicle crash involving several tractor-trailers.

The crash occurred shortly before 4 p.m. at mile marker 203, near the I-295 interchange. According to Virginia State Police, a tractor-trailer hauling logs rear-ended another tractor that was hauling a flatbed trailer, causing the second tractor to rear-end a sedan in the right lane.

After striking the sedan, the tractor hauling the flatbed then jack-knifed, striking a third tractor-trailer that was in the left lane.

The driver of the tractor-trailer that was hauling logs was transported to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The driver of the sedan was checked at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

I-64 East remained closed after the crash, according to VSP, due to an oil spill and crash cleanup.

Charges are pending and the crash remains under investigation.
