HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A rush hour crash delayed traffic for miles in Hanover County.

According to Virginia Department of Transportation, the left and center lanes of southbound Interstate 95 were closed just north of Sliding Hill Road on Monday evening. The lanes reopened shortly after 6:15 p.m.

VDOT said traffic was backed up for four miles as of 5:15 p.m. The backup increased to six miles by 6 p.m.

According to Virginia State Police, the crash involved two cars and one person was injured. The injuries were determined to be non-life threatening.

Drivers should take alternate routes and expect delays this evening.
