RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A vehicle fire on Interstate 95 caused significant delays for drivers in Richmond on Tuesday, Jan. 17.

The fire was first reported by VDOT shortly before 4:15 p.m. and was located on I-95 northbound just north of the Route 161 exit.

A four-mile backup was reported as a result of the fire. The north right lane and right shoulder were reportedly closed and VDOT advised drivers to avoid the area and expect delays.

Shortly after 5:30 p.m., VDOT reported that all lanes had been cleared. The traffic backup was reportedly cleared by 5:45 p.m.
