RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -We have a split forecast for the weekend, and if you prefer a dry day, you’ll want to make the most of today.

Today features sunshine to start, but we’ll see clouds gradually building in throughout the day — mostly sunny around noon, then partly cloudy in the later afternoon, before turning cloudy overnight. Daytime highs reach into the low 60s with winds shifting from the west to the south throughout the day at 5-10mph. Sun rises at 7am today, and sets at 4:53pm. We’ll continue to lose daylight until the Winter Solstice, which is December 21st.

Clouds will be well in place overnight, keeping temperatures milder. We’ll see lows staying above freezing, and by a good bit for most. Low 40s in the city, upper 30s elsewhere.

Tomorrow will be another rainy day. Think Friday’s forecast, except windy. We’ll see scattered rain throughout the day, heaviest late-morning through early afternoon. Can’t rule out a few rumbles of thunder, though severe weather is not likely. Rain ends in the early evening, and we’ll see highs in the middle 60s. Most of us will pick up .25-.5″ of rain, though areas in the western edges of the 8News viewing area, just east of the Blue Ridge Mountains, will see a bit higher totals; .5-1″.

Monday we’re back to the grind after a long weekend and we’ll see partly cloudy skies and a high near 60. Tuesday will turn mostly cloudy ahead of our next weather-maker, with temperatures reaching the middle and upper 50s.

Wednesday is our next rainy day, with rain looking quite likely. We’ll see at least a 60% chance for rain throughout the day, with highs in the low 60s.

Once that cold front that brought the rain passes, we’ll see a noticeable drop in temperatures for the end of the week. Thursday will feature sunny skies, but highs are only in the lower to middle 50s at best. Friday looks mostly cloudy with temperatures in the middle 50s and upper 50s with sun and clouds for Saturday.

No tropical activity is expected in the next 48 hours, and Atlantic Hurricane Season officially ends this Wednesday!
