The first snowflakes in Richmond this season

Weather

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The first snowflakes of Winter 2018 are now falling in Metro Richmond. This is from a weak system sliding through teh area tonight and into Wednesday morning.  As temperatures dip to the lower 30s tonight we will continue to see the frozen precipitation.

Further to our west there are better chances for some minimal accumulation.  There is a Winter Weather Advisory in effect for western Virginia including Buckingham, Appomattox, and Nelson counties.  This advisory stays in effect through 9:00 AM Wednesday. An inch of snow could be see in western VA, mainly on grassy surfaces.

Roads can be slick in spots during the Wednesday morning commute, so be sure to give yourself plenty of time to get to where you are headed.

Stay safe and stay tuned to 8News for the latest on the incoming winter storm we expect this weekend.
